One of India’s greatest war heroes, Sam Manexhaw was born today more than a century ago – on the occasion of his birthday, Ronnie Shrevala and director Megna Gulzar announce the title of their long-awaited film. Bahadur himself.
Based on the life and times of the brave Maneshaw, Bahadur himself will be revived by the talented Vicky Causchal in this film of the same name, which has already attracted everyone’s attention thanks to the extraordinary resemblance that his character had with Sam when he looked out.
Sam Manexhaw’s military career spanned four decades and five wars. He was the first officer in the Indian army to be promoted to the rank of field marshal, and his military victory in 1971 in the Indo-Pak War led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Vicki Kaushal’s first look in Sam Manexhaw’s biographical film was released in 2019 on the anniversary of Sam’s death, paying tribute to him. Last year, the producers revealed Vicky Caushal’s second look and also left him stunned, as Vicky looks like a field marshal – a mirror image.
The reactions to the film’s announcement and Vicki Kaushal’s gaze in “Sam Bahadur” testify that Mannekshaw’s legendary status in the war and life is fondly remembered and still remains relevant today.
Excited to embark on this journey, says director Megna Gulzar: “He was a soldier and a gentleman. They don’t make men like it Bahadur himself already. I am honored to tell his story with Ronnie Shrevala and the incredibly talented Vicky Caushal. On the field marshal’s birthday, his story got its name. I couldn’t be happier. “
Says Vicki Kaushal, who outlines the titular role, “I’ve always heard stories about Sam Bahadur from my parents, who are from Punjab and have seen the war in 1971, but when I read the script, I was completely blown away. He is a hero and a patriot who is still remembered and loved to this day, and capturing his spirit in the film is of the utmost importance to me. “
Producer Ronnie Screwvala adds, “We are thrilled and honored to unfold the story of one of our greatest characters and announce the title. Bahadur himself on the occasion of the anniversary of his birth. A great man was born today and we hope to do our best to honor his memory and legacy. “
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film stars Vicky Kaushal in and as Bahadur himself.
