The big bull is based, like that of Hansal Mehta 1992 fraud, on the history of Harshad Mehta. Abhishek A Bachchan plays Hemant, a Mehta-based character who decides to invest and then manipulate the stock market to make big profits. After all, as he says in the trailer, in India we can do anything – bribe the police, threaten the media, buy people out – as long as they don’t catch us.
Hemant and his ingenious schemes confront a lawyer played by Ram Kapoor (whom we see being cornered) and a journalist played by Ileana D’Cruz (reportedly based on Sucheta Dalal). In particular, the journalist discovered difficult truths and began to lead the case. Meanwhile, we also see Hemant fall in love and vow to become India’s first billionaire. He also faces the possibility of one of his own people revealing secrets.
The rest of the cast includes Nikita Duta, Saurab Shukla, Sohum Shah, Supria Patak, Shishir Sharma and Mahesh Mandjekar. The film was directed by Kookie Gulati, written by Gulati and Arjun Dhawan (with dialogue by Ritesh Shah), and aired on Disney + Hotstar on April 8.
